Where would you be more inspired? Listening in to a commanding talk in a conference hall or engaging in a conversation with fellow thinkers under a vast, open starlit sky?
Imagine the world we could build with conversations in settings that push us to go beyond. In a format unheard of, all talks, sessions, workshops and experiences at this year’s INK gathering will be held outdoors, in the middle of the open desertscape.
Following an hour of meditation, the morning session (from 10.00-12.30) will have the community break out in multiple, intimate-group workshops (with 40-100 people each) in spaces scattered across the Thar – in a cenotaph garden, in an oasis, in a mango grove (the only one in the world to be in a desert!), in an erstwhile pleasure palace of the kings of Jaisalmer, and in Suryagarh (for those unable or unwilling to travel outside of the hotel). The evening sessions will be held in Suryagarh, where the entire 300+ people community of INK2019 will come together once again to listen to talks under the starlit sky.
Day 1 – Thursday, 14 Nov 2019
Day 2 – Friday, 15 Nov 2019
In an unconventional format, the gathering will be divided in four groups to be part of workshops in four different spaces spread across the Thar. Three of the venues are a short drive from Suryagarh – a pleasure palace, a mango grove, and an oasis. The fourth venue will be Suryagarh itself.
The first hour (from 10.00-11.00) will have each group (of approx. 80-100 people) listen into a session together. For the next hour (11.30-12.30), these groups will get further divided into smaller groups of 30-40 people each to be part of intimate conversations within each venue.
Day 3 – Saturday, 16 Nov 2019
The Silk Route refers to a network of ancient trade routes connecting Asia, Europe and Africa. Extending for more than 6,500 kms, it was used to transport Chinese silk to Europe through Central Asia from the 2nd century BC.
